    Floh,

I shoot on a Sony XDCam PDW-F335, Codec reads as Apple XDCAM HD 1080i60.

I used to have no problem seeing the proxy images before the upgrade. I did update to the latest Transfer software (re-installed it at least 4 times) and just tried changing the cache size and location with no success. (I did find that Mountain Lion hides the Library folder during all of this, so all is not wasted.)

Needless to say, this makes no sense to me. But I do appreciate your help.

    Noah,

I finally got OS 10.8.5 downloaded from Apple (that’s a whole other story), installed M100 Suite 2.1.5, updated my Kona LHi driver to 10.6.1 (thanks to info from Floh), and it appears I’m back in business with HD and SD footage.

I made the jump to Mountain Lion from Snow Leopard after finding that Lion couldn’t play back the M100i 601 codec. I’m assuming – dangerous as that is – that further OS updates would still be able to play back the SD footage, but I’m checking with Floh before doing anything along that line.

Good luck to you if you head down the same road!

    Floh,

Once again, you got me exactly what I needed in record time and I sincerely thank you for that! (I wasn’t having much luck deciphering the info on AJA’s site since Media 100 apparently isn’t on their radar.)

Thanks again for keeping us M100 users working!

Will do, Noah. Right now, Apple is having issues with people trying to download 10.7 or 10.8 so it won’t be as soon as I’d like it to be.

Thanks, Robert. I was hoping to make the upgrade and still have SD capabilities, but info from M100 is a little thin these days.

Yes, the deinterlacing option is in the size window, but unfortunately it still doesn’t deinterlace the video. I’m scratching my head trying to figure out what it actually does….
The really sad thing is that when I export a Windows Media File (not an option for a couple of these videos, unfortunately) with Flip4Mac, there is a setting window for input (interlaced or progressive) as well as output (also interlaced or progressive) and that actually produces what I wish Quicktime would offer. C’mon Apple, don’t let the PC folks get a leg up on you!

Andrew – I was exporting directly from M100, mainly because I was getting the same options there as when I opened a by ref file in QT Pro. Unfortunately, QT wasn’t giving me clean results.

Robert – the JES software seems to be doing the trick! I’ve been able to get clean edges; now I just need to tweak output settings to get the blacks, gamma, file size, etc. where they will work best. Thanks for pointing me in that direction.

I appreciate the help from you both!

At full power, you’re looking into the equivalent of two 1,000-watt lights (which is pretty bright, as you can tell.) If your camera can tolerate a little less light, try turning off a couple of the bulbs in each fixture. It also seems like the lights may be positioned just a little above eye/camera level – have you tried raising them and/or moving them out to take them out of your line of sight a bit? I use a softbox about this size for my key light and find that moving it off-axis helps my talent not be so blinded when reading the prompter.

    Good luck!

I’m using two of these units right now (one A frequency and one B) and have yet to have an issue I couldn’t fix with a simple frequency adjustment. For the price, I’m not sure you can do better.

    Good luck!

Thanks, Robert. That’s what I was hoping to hear.
