Now the crazy thing is I’ve slowed down a different video to 30% checked the “maintain original pitch” box and there was no problem. It must be something in the video or all the presets you choose as you start a new project.

I’m not a pro editor and don’t know CS5 very well at all, the truth be told, so I really can’t say what’s going on.

Hi Jay: thanks for the suggestion. The crazy thing is that I figured out that when I can slow down the video up to 45% with the hold original pitch box checked it will work. I need to have the “hold to original pitch” box checked because I am editing music education videos.

If I slow it down to 44% or less the audio won’t play ! I can slow it down 44% or less without the “hold to original pitch” box checked and the audio will work but of course the pitch is wrong ! That’s no good for me.

So that check box is the problem. I wonder if it’s a bug. I was using premier elements and could slow down the video and audio as much as I wanted and never had a problem.

I am still puzzled by this.

    Thanks very much for responding

“On the other hand, if you separate (unlink) the audio track from the video track, and change the NLE timeline units to audio units, then you’ll be able to adjust audio very precisely against the visuals.”

Alex : I’m going to do a save as on the file I’m working on and unlink the audio and video track and experiment with NLE audio units.

    Thanks for that

    Very Best

Alex: I’m having the same issue where as one of my clappers recorded on seperate video cameras appear in the time line between frames !

I have an external mic on one video cam and on the other one I used an onboard mic. one vid cam with onboard mic was positioned a little closer to me that the other cam with external.

I didn’t expect a sound lag by a fraction of a second when I hit the clapper. the mics were maybe 3 ft apart one diagonal to the other.

As it turns out when I played the 2 videos back after I got them as cloe as possible I sure couldn’t tell the difference .

It just bugged me that there is no way to be “exact” with the audio sync and thus having the video “exact” also.

If you did find a way to stop the “snap to grid” in the time line let me know.

    Thanks

    Mark
