January 26, 2014 at 9:43 am in reply to: Not posted here in ages and now twice in a day 🙁 Motion FCPX Vimeo IssueThanks Jeremy – have no idea what happened, but I played the same video on Vimeo this morning and the animation was working.
The really odd thing is that it had frozen the logos in a way they were not positioned in the actual edit?!?
One of the most random things I’ve ever seen from The Upload Gremlins!!!
Thanks!

Didn’t have any compound clips in there – but as you suggested the back up library did work to a point.
Unfortunately all the references were broken (have no idea why!) – so I had to cut and past the edit in the project, and then put it into a new project after firing up FCPX.
Did the job so I’m happy haha :0)

January 25, 2014 at 1:15 pm in reply to: FCPX 10.1 Lost Project Issue – can see project in folder but can’t open.Just a work around here that I figured out myself. I’m sure someone will have something more sensible!
I opened up my back up from last night – when I did ALL the references had been broken to my clips in the time line.
However, I CMD-C’d the entire timeline, restarted FCPX, opened a new project, and then pasted them in.
It worked!
I still think I’m moving over to Adobe. There just seems to be loads of firefighting with FCPX. Ironically it’s more stable – but who needs to be going through the drama of missing projects, event media going walkabout, not being able to load libraries, and the classic “can’t restore the window layout” thing.
I swear that since Steve died, Apple have been losing the fight.

April 23, 2013 at 5:56 pm in reply to: FCPX render issue – deadline looming – aaaarrggghhh!!! hahaThanks for the info Michael! I did a bit of a cheat work around – sent a master to my HDD – loaded it up in my other Mac and did it from there – which worked a treat.
I will certainly try your advice though on the original mac to see what happens.
Thanks very much for taking the time to reply :0)
Cheers,

Hi Trevor,
Apologies for the delay in replying, and thanks for posting.
You’re right – I let FCPX do it for me (I thought it was the only way to be honest, until Andy also posted, indicating that we can gain more control over the sync – which is great).
For some reason the GH2 was being put at the end of the timeline of the GH1 in the timeline of the angle editor, with a minute of slug/black space in between (if that makes sense?) – I’m going from memory and still getting to grips with the new functionality etc.
I think you’re right about the next upgrades. It’s so nearly there now. I actually really enjoy using it – especially being able to ‘see’ the audio much easier. I know it’s had a lot of grief (and much of it rightly so) – but at least the recent upgrade means I can actually use it now, as opposed to it ‘gathering dust’ on my hard drive.
Thanks again for your reply :0)
Best wishes,
Mark

Hi Andy,
Apologies for the delay in replying to you, and thanks for the links.
I will certainly check out your tutorials in the morning as I was just going with the auto-sync aspect.
The strange thing about the issue I had, is that it seemed to put the GH2 footage on the same ‘track’ as the GH1 – but with that black space – very odd!
I’m hoping that I’ll find the answers in the tutorial vids you were kind enough to create and link me :0)
Thanks again for the reply,
Best wishes,
Mark

January 30, 2012 at 8:16 pm in reply to: Motion 4 Crashes/Reinstall issues (have searched forum but no luck)Hi Jon,
Sorry for the delay in following up, and thanks for the advice re Pacifist. I’d never heard of that app before and it’s really good.
Even with that, I’m still having problems unfortunately – which is making me think that a full on re-install is worth doing – especially because the Mac in question has some other issues. A little extreme perhaps, but probably worth it in the long run!
Anyhoo – thanks again for all your help and advice – very much appreciated :0)
Cheers,
Mark

January 23, 2012 at 5:50 pm in reply to: Motion 4 Crashes/Reinstall issues (have searched forum but no luck)Hi Jon,
Thanks for getting back to me again – really appreciate it :0)
I tried your suggestion and still the same issue I’m afraid. I’m completely perplexed as to whats happening – I even checked the disc to see if it is damaged and it’s immaculate!
Am I right in thinking that this problem shouldn’t really be happening? ie – it doesn’t make any sense?
I’m starting to wonder if I should just back up my data and do a complete erase and install on my Mac to be honest – perhaps that will do it?
The reason I’m having this issue in the first place is because I did the reinstall due to Motion crashing the second I opened up a new project – so maybe the Mac is in need of it!
I’ll hold off the erase for a bit just in case yourself or anyone else has any other suggestions, as I’d rather not go through a full re-pop.
Thanks again for your input though – always appreciated!
Cheers,
Mark
