No offense taken…I do tilt it down when possible and in fact tilt it so it’s pointing backwards in flight. Maybe I can rig up a remotely controlled can of bug spray;). I’ve been shooting with the Tyler for about 20 years and have gotten a lot of great, bug-free stuff. I just figured I throw the question out there. And yes, the best stuff is the low flying stuff. I’ll stick to the tried and true method of landing in a field to clean the lens when necessary. Thanks!Mark D’Agostino

Thanks Dave for the quick response. I did forget to note that we typically do shoot 30p but for the project I’m referring to we shot 60i and that’s where my issue comes into play.

Hi Steve,
Do you by any chance know the name/maker of either of these, (the scrolling filter & spinning filter)? I’ve been trying to Google them but have come up empty. Thanks so much. We knew at some point it would be for free because Panasonic implied that at the time but since we were one of the easrliest reporting the problem they didn’t have their act together to help and we couldn’t wait. Timing is everything.

Hi Robyn,
We had to replace our filter wheel a few months ago. While Panasonic did agree there were problems with the poorly made plastic gear they would not replace it for free. We ended up shipping our camera to Abel Cine and they took care of it quickly.Mark D’Agostino

Rick, I’ve gone through a lot of dustoff through the years but it was worth it. I’ve also used matte black formica/wilsonart as well as various textured blacks. For those I’ve wiped a dryer sheet over the surface and that has helped to repel the dust.

I’ve shot a lot of tabletop on black and would suggest using a sheet of black formica rather than cloth. The surface will look slicker and smoother and you won’t have the texture of the fabric to deal with. If you have to move anything on the surface you don’t have to worry about trying to keep cloth flat.
