    I’d say you get enough plain audio tracks with eq/compression/reverb for movie sound
    (surround is very expensive though).
    I’m more of a composer – I get a lot of cpu spikes with software instruments/guitar processing etc.
    MIDI editing is good enough for me.

    I love Pro Tools. It’s much better than Soundtrack (don’t know Logic).
    But…
    Pro Tools has got it’s fair share of problems too.

    Look up the complaints about Pro Tools:
    features long overdue
    RTAS and overall performance bad
    Virtual instrument handling no good

    (not all that different from the bad press FCP7 had to suffer)

    I love it – but I get a much better track count with garageband.
