The Beta input might be set to RGB instead of YUV, what is the model of Beta deck you are using?

Make sure your component input is switched over to YUV and is set to Betacam levels (as opposed to SMPTE). Click on the component input on the control panel and it should let you change away.

I am pretty sure the IoHD manual states that SD signals will not go out the HDMI output. Maybe I misread, but I am pretty sure I read that somewhere.

I can attest that not all signals will go out the HDMI output, specifically SD signals. The manual states pretty clearly which HD signals will output through the HDMI port (the HDMI out does not support any SD signals). However, SD signals can be captured through the HDMI input.

No I mean data rate or throughput. My SD system I was using had G-RAID FW800 drives that could sustain a single stream of uncompressed 10bit SD video; Apple states that ProRes 422 is the same data rate as UC 10bit footage, but AJA will tell you (because I asked) that they do not recommend FW800 RAID systems when editing ProRes; so I went with the G-RAIDes, which is a 4-drive eSATA RAID system, which is plenty fast enough.

Just make sure you have sufficient hard drive capability; the internal drive nor a single SATA/FW800 drive will cut it, if you plan on capturing HD.

Luckily for us AJA Tech support is by far some of the best in the industry.

I bought a GEN10 since the price is right and it can output both Comp Sync and Tri-Level for whatever you need.

Perhaps Analog output of the IO is not set to Beta but SMPTE?

    — which brings up another question that I have:

Whenever I switch out of FCP to the desktop, the IoHD reverts back to 720p even though I have burned the standalone mode to 525i29.97.

    What gives?

I just benched my G Speed ES (2TB RAID 5 = 1.5TB). Read and Write is about 150MB/sec to 160MB/sec. Used the system test that came with the IoHD. Looks like I’ll be ok for ProRes HQ.
