Thanks for the input. I will most likely pass on the $400.00 mac.

If you were to buy a used mac at this time to run fcp studio 2 or 3, and wanted to spend between $500.00 and $800.00 what would you recommend?

Any suggestions on where to find a good used fcp mac?

Thanks everyone for all of the advice. I received a contract from them today that they want me to sign and fax back. Their verbage states that I will be paid by check upon successful completion and review of the tapes.

I am sending them a contract back for them to sign that agrees to their terms, however, all rights to said footage remains the rights of my production company until I receive payment in full. After the check clears, all rights to the footage transfers to them.

Does this sound alright? I know I am running a risk of not getting paid once I deliver the tapes. However, I can always threaten copyright infringement if they use said footage in a production without paying. At least this is some leverage.

It is not a huge contract, but I am looking for some protection.

    Thanks again, Mark

May 12, 2009 at 4:40 pm in reply to: Camera audio splitting problem

    Noah, thanks for your response.

Actually, I don’t need to record extra channels. Mostly, I only need two seperate channels. My problem is that my Panasonic DVCPro 50 deck is down (bad capaictors) and I need to temporarily use my camera as a feed deck to my non-linear editor breakout box.

The problem is that the camera only provides one xlr 3-pin audio out port. I have the option of choosing ch.1 or ch 2. Or a Mix of both channels.

I was wondering if by using some sort of audio splitter if I could seperate the channels once outside of the camera. Also, there is one other camera selection that allows the audio out to provide stereo or mix of the two audio channels.

Sorry for the long post. Also, if someone knows where I could get my aj-d950 tape deck repaired that would be great. Apparently these decks have bad capacitors that need to be replaced after a few years of work. I guesse this was a common problem with this deck..
    Thanks again, Mark

    Hi Guys,

Thanks for all of your posts. Yes, the xlr audio out is a 3 pin that I can switch from ch 1 to ch 2 or Mix out. I can choose the configuration on a Monitor Out switch on the camera. Also, thru another switch I have the option of choosing Stereo or Mix.

I don’t know alot about pin configuration, but from the previous posts I take it you could split the channels if it was on a 5-pin but not a 3 pin. Is this correct?

Also, does the ability to choose stereo or mix make any difference in trying to split the audio out feed?

Originally, I was hoping to add some sort of splitter and take two seperate channels (thru cables) into my non-linear editing breakout box. Thanks for all of your help.
