The best way to work with this in Red is to first bring in the elements onto seperate tracks. If it is a layered PSD file, then you can use the command to seperate the file into layers.

Next, take all of these tracks and drop them into a 3d container. Now you will want to set the container to z-space for the renderer. Now start positioning the tracks in 3d space using the position parameters. You will definately want to offset some layers in z-position otherwise you will not be able feel the perspective. Now click on the container track and in the controls window go over to the camera tab. Now start playing with the camera and have fun.

This is something that can definately be done in Red.

Are both layers the same size ???

  • I would try and use an adjustement layer over both shots, then add a slight tint to the overall shot….Maybe towards the red or orange to bring the shot warmer. Then I would add a levels filter to the keyed shot and adjust the intensity to try and match the outdoors.

Also, I have never heard of Borisfx releasing Vaporware….I have dealt with them for a number of years and they have always released what they announce.

It is a very broad question….

But you could try a few things…. Transfer modes…. motion tracking if there is mouvement…lighting…. lots of options….if it not a corporate logo (they are rightfully picky about you messing with their logos) you could add an adjustement layer and then use a slight tint with transfer mode etc…

Hunting around on the web I found that a known issue of that codec is a gamma shift that the QT player doesn’t display correctly. Do a search for H.264 gamma shift and all will be revealed 🙂
