They specifically mentioned new versions of both FCPX and Aperture were coming in the MacPro section.

Based on this and LogicProX- I’d say we’ll likely see some UI tweaking to “de-chrome” the interface.

via the iWork for iCoud apps, you can work on iWork on PC, just like Google Docs.

I think that’s the smart bet.

That way if things happen sooner it will be a nice surprise.

  • I don’t think they’ll be able to get it that low. With at least 512GB SSD, minimum 8-16GB of RAM, and dual GPUs– but we’ll know for sure in a couple of days.

  • I mentally have budgeted about 10-12K for a new system including MacPro and Display. If it’s less I’ll be thrilled. But that’s how much my startup MacPro G5Quad setup cost me in 2006.

  • Tracks would be a fundamental change in how the timeline works. Tracks = no connected clips, no magnetic timeline. Complete reversal of the current version.

Color wheels are just a different UI for the same function. You’re right they may not- but if they were just another tab in the color board along with levels and curves, it wouldn’t bother me.

  • [Andy Branner] “Not sure what “logic” that’s banking on, but I can’t follow it.”

Only that’s what he said at IBC. And I don’t believe it to be a “technical” link per se (other than optimization)- but more a PR link. New MacPro, new FCPX. it’s good synergy. But one doesn’t “depend” on the other in the strictest terms…

[Andy Branner] “color? You mean in terms of shot comparison and the likes?”

I actually very much like the FCPX colour correction setup- it is very “Resolve’esque” in it’s Primary and Secondaries implementation. Some additional tools like curves, levels, and (why not) colour wheels would make it a pretty powerful NLE CC. And I wouldn’t mind an even single-point mask tracker either….

[Andy Branner] “You realize of course that it’s been golden master for almost three weeks now, yes? Why just a preview?”

Just like with iOS7 at the iPhone event, which had also been GM’d a couple weeks before. Just a quick reminder rundown of features- very fast.

The other exciting thing to watch for will be a 4K Cinema Display from Apple. It doesn’t make much sense for them to release a machine with 4K features and then have them ceed the display to ASUS or Samsung. But make no mistake, if they do release one- it ain’t gonna be cheap. Comparable 4K Monitors are about $3500. It will be like the 30″ Cinema Display all over again!
