Thank you John ! That helped a lot

Thank you John. It’s working partially. I guess I still didn’t correctly understand a part of your solution.
Here’s the problem:
Like I said there are several masks (lines) on the layer. The stroke effect “reveals” all of them one by one.
Right now when I copy the first mask path and copy it into the position of the new layer it spans the “animation” over the time that it takes for ALL the masks to be revealed in the original.
I have 36 masks on my source layer which reveal over a time of about 4 seconds one by one. After copy/pasting the first mask path, the timing for the first movement is spread out over the complete 4 seconds. (Same if I deselect roving)
If I got it right, i now need to manually adjust the timing by moving the last point.. the result is not good.Could you please tell me if I just did something wrong or if this is indeed the intended solution

Thank you… would be nice to see in the future though ; )

Thanks to both of you for the in depth info.
I actually expected that by now there would exist a “simple/standard” solution, since framerate conversion seems to be such an everyday problem for many people.
Guess we all have to wait a little longer for that one click wonder ; ) -
The source footage fps for this particular project is 23.976 and 30
I need to deliver in 25 fps. It’s also planned to upload a version to youtube once it’s done. While youtube basically takes “everything” I think that it’s best to upload 30 fps for best results. To make a long story short… I am actually looking for a flexible solution which I can use for “all” framerate combinations which I will run into in the future. The question is not limited to solving this specific project.
So if you have any suggestion for a good and reliable “allround” solution I would be grateful.

Hi Jonathan, thank you for taking the time to respond.
I have to confess that I might have imagined things… I would have put a lot of money on the “fact” that it used to be different.
Just an hour ago I called a friend who is still using CS2 and he also confirmed what you just said. once the image is zoomed out so that it can fit entirely on the screen, it’s nailed to the center and cannot be moved around.
I really don’t know why it feels so unfamiliar this way for me now. I hope I find out what’s the issue…
Sorry for wasting anyones time and thanks again for the replies. -

I am zooming with the keyboard shortcuts “ctrl+Space+LeftClick” and I Move the Image around with “Hold Space + Hold LeftMouseButton and Drag”.
Example:
I am zoomed in on the top left corner of an image.
When I zoom out again I want the left corner of the image to STAY at the center of my screen. That’s how it used to be in older versions.
In CS6 during zooming out happens this: once the image is able to be fit onto the screen, PS will center it. In addition I cannot move it’s position while holding “Space+LeftMousebutton” – the image is nailed to the center of the screen until I either zoom in/out one step again. Only then I can move it around freely. That’s what’s bothering me and I am looking for a way to turn this behavior off.Was the description ok?
EDIT: Sorry, there is one mistake in my description…
Once the Image can fit on the screen it ALWAYS is centered and cannot be moved away from the center with the HAND tool. I guess this is the whole problem… can’t remember it used to be this way. -
Thank you VERY much Ted! Your approach seems to be much better then mine, since it works “out of the box” on multiple items in the background regardless of their Z values.
I did put some blur on the type in the text comp which made the result look exactly as desired.
There is just one thing I could not figure out yet.
The spot still produces a visible lightcone onto the background.
I tried to get rid of it, but I couldn’t. Shouldn’t the light coming from the spot be completely blocked by the “lightgel” layer – except for the text areas? I don’t know where the light is coming from??? The solid you used in the lightgel layer is completely black – not grey – so it’s supposed to block 100% – isn’t it?
