hi Peter, yeah, let me dig them out..

Mac Pro 5.1, Mid 2010 (bought in May 2012)
    2×2.4 QuadCore Intel Xeon
    22GB 1066 Mhz DDR3 ECC
    Nvidia GeForce GTX 570 1279Mb
    OS X 10.8.4

    Latest Nvidia driver. latest Cuda.

    Display is a Dell SP2309W @ 2048×1152

    BlackMagic Extreme 3D card.

I just installed the BMD 9.7.5 drivers (newest as of today) on their website

I’m using a 1tb sata (internal) drive as my render and preview drive.

My file is in ProRes HQ 422. I have 6 ch of audio.
    Nothing plays.
i tried playing with just the Audio. Source Side, Record Side. nothing. I tried setting my Playback mercury to software, to cuda, and just for giggles. to open cl. no luck.
I tried setting the Audio Hardware to every different setting.

My version of MC 6 plays fine, and even Smoke 2013 plays just fine. QT plays the Video File) though not with the 6 channels of audio..(i haven’t tried.)

    Thanks Peter.

I have the same issue, with a newly installed CC. My previous CS6 stopped loading at the titler, so i deleted the preferences, and then it started working. I update to CC, as all good Adobe subscription based people should.. and CC loads up just fine. but doesn’t play. i update my Nvidia driver to the newest one. I’ve tried looking for the file you suggest, but it doesn’t exist on my machine..
And I tried the trick of setting the Audio output to something other than system I/O but nothing seems to help. I also installed the latest drivers from BMD for my Extreme 3 card.
    no play back..
Wasn’t that what premiere was written to do? play back video. It’s a really hard sell to possible converts, when it doesn’t do the most basic of things it was originally designed to do…

I’m about 5 minutes(run time) into re-grading a 10yr old feature length doc. the new features are nice. feels smoother than before. The overall layout feels more natural. just not used to it, but am finding things pretty easily.

Is there a list somewhere to report issue with the beta, or the kind of, “Yeah it’s nice, but would be better with this..”, or, “it has a feature in two of the three options, but not the third”?

    thanks.

yes, get resolve lite. it’ll run on the same hardware as Color. even better..

Also, since Apple has killed Color, and hasn’t update it in years, your access to newer formats for the coming years will be guaranteed with a work-flow involving Davinci. Color, you’re locked into what was hot 4yrs ago.

Also, the workflow from FCP to Davinci is actually better than the Color workflow, and if you know davinci, you’ll know that you can bring in multiple sequences, and not have to re-color shots you did last week.. Color can only have 1 sequence open at a time, and doesn’t have access to previous grades unless you’ve saved them out.

besides, if you’re responsible for doing the work, you should be able to dictate the tool. (to some extent), especially if you make the co. believe it’s a benefit.

Symphony and Davinci resolve on a mac or PC with a Black Magic Card and MC Color control surface will give you just about all you could ask for in a Premo “budget” finishing solution. throw in a copy of Nuke or AE. and I’d say you’re pretty darn complete.
Davinci has a great round trip workflow for Symph/Composer media and AAF. just like they do with FCP, and IMovie Pro.

once you’ve ssen it in action, it’s really a no brainer…

and the MC color panel will work in both Avid and Davinci. so light lifting in Avid, the real good stuff in davinci. all ont he same hardware. sweet!

i agree with jonathan, if BMD were to do anything with Avid, PLEASE buy up the DS code. i used DS for the last 9yrs on some of the biggest projects, but the toolset has fallen so far behind. i made a switch to Autodesk Smoke last year. That being said, BMD DS would surely be Innovated immediately. there are so many things that could be fixed/enhanced/added in short order that would make it a viable platform again. Adding support for BMD cards would be a good start, esp since Composer and Symphony now run on those. XML support. 16 ch audio support. I’m not talking earth shattering things here..

As well, BMD doesn’t have an editing platform of their own. DS would be a huge jump into the pool..

WOW. the possibilities would be awesome knowing BMD’s track record…

add the new node between your last node that you have, and the output tab (the thing that looks like a PONG paddle on the right side).
