There’s also a lightsaber tutorial on here. I dunno whether or not you’d be able to apply anything from that tutorial to the effect you’re trying to achieve, but it might be worth a look. -
Instead of copying and pasting, save your settings as a custom effect.

Is it yellow after watching it on a TV? If so, your monitor is probably not calibrated correctly. If you don’t have a True Color or Broadcast monitor, than you can get your computer monitor fairly close by using color bars.

No, it’s not the standard. However, it is awfully handy to be familiar with both PC and Mac. I mean, you’re bound to run across both.
As far as taking steps towards a career goes, I’d learn the programs in and out. Learn everything you can. The more tools you wield, the more valuable you are.
Practically the Total Training series for After Effects is just amazing. Very thorough. It’s nice to have an instructor go through the entire app with you.
If they’re a bit pricy for you, buy an older set off of ebay. 90% of the info will still apply (just don’t go too far back).
There are also a decent number of fantastic tutorials posted up here.
Aside from that, the manuals are a pretty obvious source of knowledge. The best way to learn, by far, is too actually use the program. Always be working on something, even if it -

Well, it wasn’t just 30p. I’m shooting with a Panasonic HVX200. to record the higher res formats (anything in 720 or 1080i) you either need to record to an external hardrive or it’s solid state P2 cards. As of now, I have no P2 cards. So, I was attempting a live capture directly into Avid. For some reason, it wasn’t playing nice with 30p (I had gotten it to work before). So, I ended up shooting 720/24p. What I’m really after is the 720 lines of resolution. 30p or 30i would best the easiest to work with being that it all has to br 30 fps in the end to print to tape.
It’s a long sad story and like I said, I’m pretty new with all this.
