effects order?
First I apply Keylight, then I apply Timewarp. After Timewarp my footage is no longer keyed. Is their an order in which I need to apply these effects to get the effect that I

Try applying Keylight, then precomposing the layer, then applying timewarp to the precomp.

Is this the right way to do it? I’ll definitely give it a try; I’m just curious.

I don’t know — I use Twixtor, not Timewarp. So far. Most of the time you can stack effects applied to one layer. If you can’t, you precompose.
The “right way” is the way that works for you. If you try way A and it doesn’t work, but way B does work, then it’s the right way. 🙂
Some things are “carved in stone” because ignoring them make your video look like garbage (like scaling interlaced material without separating fields), but sometimes it’s faster to do your own tests while waiting for a response from us.
In other words, in time, you’ll learn your own “right way”. After Effects rewards those who experiment 🙂
