Matt, I’m running the exact same set up you are. Both cameras and PC. Recently purchased the AX2000 and picked up a used FX1. Although I haven’t edited anything yet I’m looking forward to see how things flow.

    John,

You mentioned to watch my framing. Can you be more specific?

    Thanks for responding John

I’m pretty sure the 2100 also shoots 16:9. At this point I’m only concentrating on delivering a SD DVD.

My PC can handle AVCHD from what I’ve read on here and discussed with other experts. It’s was recently purchased. i7-930.

I’ve read your comments before about buying HDV over AVCHD. And I understand. But I need to move ahead with what I have now.

I have the capabilities to burn Blue Ray. But for this project it’s not in demand.

Based on what I’ve told you, any other advise would be welcome.

    Thanks

Again, Thanks for all your help John.

One final question and I’ll leave you alone. Is the best option at this point to upgrade to Pro 10 or are there other possible less expensive options?

    Thanks for the quick feedback.

It does shoot in SD MPEG 2. When you say Vegas7 may not handle AVCHD that well, what exactly do you mean? What problems would I experience?

So just to confirm. Will I have to convert the files before I can edit in Vegas? Or is it as easy as drag n drop into the timeline?

Thanks for all the information. However some of it is over my head and it sounds like you’re speaking a foreign language at times. But I’m learning. I think based on the projects I shoot currently I can get by with a couple of upgrades on my system but may be limited to the length and complexity of my projects.

    Sony Vaio PCVRZ46G – Purchased in 2003

    Pentium 4
    3.2 GHz w/hyperthreading
    200 GB Hard drive
    3 GB Ram – I added 2GB a couple years ago.

Thanks for all the feedback. No real need to go mobile right now I guess. So here’s my next question. If I would go with an off the shelf tower, any recommendations? Sony, Dell, HP, etc. As long as it’s dual core I assume. I just don’t want all that extra crap loaded on the pc like they do normally.
