I am looking at adding a second camera to my kit for weddings. I have used the FX7 for 2 years and now are looking at the AX2000. I use Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD 10 and DVDA5. I will mostly use the AX2000 BUT will probably use the FX7 un-manned for cut-aways during speeches etc. Will I have any issues in Vegas with the 2 different formats? I believe that the AX2000 shoots at 1920×1080 as opposed to the FX7 which is 1440×1080. Will this be a problem? Any general feeback on the AX2000 is also welcome.

The two resolutions are actually the same. 1440 PAR 1.3333 is the same as 1920 PAR 1.0 so you will not no problems with that at all.

The bigger thing is that the AX2000 shoots AVCHD instead of HDV like the FX7. Can your computer handle that? i.e., do you have at least a powerful new QuadCore ‘cuz you’re gonna need one.

Matt, I’m running the exact same set up you are. Both cameras and PC. Recently purchased the AX2000 and picked up a used FX1. Although I haven’t edited anything yet I’m looking forward to see how things flow.

Mac, let me know how you go when you go to edit the two different formats. I am now looking at the HXR-NX5U given the minimal price different of ~ $300. I am also upgrading my RAM from 12GB to 24GB. Not sure if it will make a huge difference but my render time for a 2.5hr BD was 9 hours last week.
