Please, one more clarification for my sanity:
1. Above you said if I shoot 30p in a Canon XL2 I should capture the footage in a 60i project? If so, will motion graphics imported from AE 7.0 still look OK? Also, will cross fades, disolves look OK?
2. Someone on the DVI thread for a similar question also stated that for those of us shooting 30p in a Canon XL2 that we should be able to capture in the 30i lower fields project setting and then just make sure to export the final file for web, dvd, whatever, as “progressive”. Is this also true? Will motion graphics and transitions look OK?
Thanks a ton as I really like to shoot in 30p and don’t want to be hamstrung.

Thanks for the responses. All the suggested emitters were great.

April 5, 2006 at 10:57 pm in reply to: COW Tutorials: After Effects Creating a Cartoon from VideoOK, I did what you suggested by restoring the original file and sure enough, the batch process worked fine. One thing I did note when I was following your instructions, the change I was supposed to make to line 497 was not in the correct spot. I must have changed the wrong line (although it looked correct) and I did heed your advice that there were two lines with that particular text. Not sure what to do…I guess the up side is that I have narrowed the problem down to that one change (the color space change).
Hmmm.

April 5, 2006 at 10:29 pm in reply to: COW Tutorials: After Effects Creating a Cartoon from VideoPart one of my problem fixed…I just removed the comma from the 99,999 value that I added to the .jsx file. Now Illustrator shows up just fine.
New problem though. Once I choose Illustrator (in Bridge) and pick my preset and pick the destination and click “OK” (and Illustrator is open) the program pulls Illustrator up but doesn’t do anything at all. I’ve tride restarting both programs and the computer but nothing. Thoughts?

Has anyone had a problem when following the tutorial directions that when you get to Adobe Bridge there is no Illustrator under “Tools”? I have the Production Bundle Premium and therefore both AE and Illustrator, but only Photoshop CS2 shows up when in Bridge under Tools. I really want to finish my cartoon effect, but am unable to batch process b/c Illustrator simply isn’t an option under Tools.
Help!

April 5, 2006 at 10:05 pm in reply to: COW Tutorials: After Effects Creating a Cartoon from VideoI am experiencing one problem at the end of the tutorial (another great job by the way). When I go into Bridge and go to “Tools”, Illustrator does not show up as an option. I have the new production bundle premium and therefore obviously Illustrator CS2, but no luck on Illustrator as a “Tools” option. Therefore I cannot apply my Illustrator LIve Trace presets to the batch.
Help!!

Received Aharon Rabinowitz’s ParticleIllusion Fusion Volume 1 instructional DVD. I’ve watched most of it and the material and presentation are excellent! I highly recommend to anyone.

Thanks for the link. I will re-read the “Dr. Stragepixel” article again. Do you know what the final word is on what I should export my After Effects widescreen 16:9 footage so that it properly lines up in PI? Also, what should my composition in PI be set to so that when I bring the rendered PI effects into AE, they all line up? I’m still a little fuzzy on the final answer.

One of the pIllusion emitters does exactly that. You can also have the shells interact with deflectors that you could line up with a table, or something.
