John thank you very much for your reply. I think you are the most helpful person on the Internet. You have answered all of my posts on here and helped me out and I very much apreiciate it.

I have no problem with interlacing artifacts (mouse teeth, combing etc) . My problem is the “smoothness of motion”. The original footage is very smooth(the smoothness is noticeable even in that shaky clip I posted). I’m finding the motion vastly inferior of the 25p render .

here is a better example maybe ?

the motion was butter smooth. now to me it looks like its lost allot of fluidity.

and here is a better example of a smooth youtube vid:

    just to make it clearer
when i say “not exactly half” I mean less, sometimes 70% of original speed , sometimes 55% …… so should re-sample be off ?

Also I’m sorry about this but I’m still quite confused.

    Just to clarify.

This project contains a mix of 29.970 and 59.940 clips, some of the 59.94 clips have been stretched in the time line up to but never more than twice the original duration. The final file will be viewed on the computer and the internet. What frame rate should I render as and could you please explain the reasoning behind choosing this frame rate so in future I can make this judgment myself ?

Normally I wouldn’t keep asking like this but the answers to this question will clear up a whole lot of confusion for me in future.

    ohhkay 🙂
    cool!

One thing is confusing me the original frame rate is 59.940fps.
but Im slowing the events down in the timeline to some cases not exactly half its original speed. does this still apply ?

“It’s only when going from double the frame rate to half the frame rate that you don’t want it ”

also im not exporting as 29.970, im exporting at 30..is this a mistake ?

and in answer to my question about setting all the events at once select them all then right click and choose “switches”

Thank you so much John you really are a legend.
This has helped me out a lot.
I cant help but wonder why is the event default setting to re-sample ?
in what situation should it be on ?
also is there a way to set these events at once rather than one by one as there is like 50 and about 5 projects ?
    Thanks John

actually i kinda figured it out change the speed in properties to 0.5 then drag the event out until you see the little “cut” in it. after that “cut” point the clip starts to repeat or just display a freeze of the last frame (depends if you have loop on or off in properties)

    Hi Daniel,
    Thankyou for your response .
So I see there are multiple ways of slowing down an event.
I want to slow some of the clips to exactly 0.5 speed.
When I do this via the event properties the event slows down but it is the same length, because of this the new event does not play the entire clip (only half).

How can I slow an event exactly half and see the entire clip play out ?
