If i was in the same situation the first thing I would probably do is:

    1) Delete any scratch or temp files, then try again.
    2) Export to a different drive
    3) Create a new fcp project and then import the project and/or sequence from the possibly corrupted project into the new one and try to export again.
    4) If that all failed I might look at recapturing the content and replacing the media used, I believe you can do this and keep all the cuts in place.
    5) Lastly I would I would uninstall FCP, making sure ALL files are completely deleted. look here for tips on making sure its all gone, https://forums.creativecow.net/thread/8/958085

6)if none of those works and the project is just too big to re-edit quickly, i’d back up the projects using the project backup feature (dont specifically remember the name in fcp), wipe the mac entirely and reinstall everything, starting with OS, do all O/S updates, then FCP suite and all FCP updates, reload the project and see if it works then.

That may or may not be the way to go, but i’ve had to do it in the past, at the end of the day it may be quicker to simply re-edit, consider if the project is totally corrupted, can you edit it just as quick as following all those steps, something to think about.

why does everyone keep on going on about qmaster for compressor, it wont affect the speed on mpeg streamclip one bit.

and compressor will not accept importing mpegs, unless i am totally misinformed.

thanks for all the help though.

why would i do it twice? i find compressors de-interlacing filter to be terrible. mpeg streamclip actually does it better than anything else i have which is a sad statement to make, considering the cost of FCS2.

i would like to add, and perhaps its already explained that people posting int he higher pay section actually offer higher pay.

One recent posting was for $15-$20 an hour, i dont really think that constitutes higher pay does it?

  • you can actually import projects into a current project and it shows up as a bin, not exactly the same as fcp but close.

I think you misunderstand the quote in my signature

    was being sarky not serious.

compressor wont help as it has nothing to do with mpeg streamclip unless you can get streamclip to work within compressor?

    Jonny,

The best way around this is to copy the entire contents of the sony HD folder (hopefully you copied the entire folder intact with directory structure) on your desktop to an external USB drive, make sure nothing else is on the drive.

Then start up FCP open log and transfer and it should find the files on the usb drive import them into fcp and you should be good to go.
