    Thanks for your prompt response

Ok, I understand that in illustrator its in preview mode. But what can i output from illlustrator to get a semi accurate depiction of the final image on my monitor before it goes to print? Also something I can email to a client for approval.

Seperate from that , is there a color setting I should be on in PS and Illustrator , something general for all printers? And is there a book, magazine, class, online class, DVD, etc. you can reccommend for prepress and color management. I live in Los Angeles. A good monthly mag with cool tips would be nice too.

    Thanks,

    Luis

Tank you so much! I wil definitely pass on the mojo, I’mm thinking of putting up a web page detailing my online journey. If you can elp, I have another question:

I just got my digibeta DVW-M2000 hooked up to the basic SDI Decklink card and I can capture without a problem, no video sync issues but when it comes to playback of uncompressed, the horizontal sync is off. I’m runnig decklink’s ver. 4.4 drivers and FCP 4.1.1, Mac OS 10.3.4. I am not in a facility where i can get house sync, besides I thought the card didn’t require a sync generator. The exact set up out is:

    Decklink SDI out to,
    Digibeta DVW-M2000 SDI in,
    Digibeta composite out,
    PVM – 14L1 composite in.
I do have to switch the PB/EE (F2 on the front of the deck) to EE when playing back from the timeline and EE when capturing.

PS: I’m suprised at myself that I even got this far with the online!

I really appreciate you emailing me back Jonathan.

I go this checklist for setting up the digibeta for online off another post. Do you see anything missing?

    In FCP:
    1. Check that 422 control is set to VTC & LTC in your preset
    2. Your offset is set to “0”
    3. Obviously, “Sony 422” protocol

    On digibeta:

    1. Top control panel “TC Gen” switch set to “Regen”
    2. Bottom control paned “TC Source” set to “Auto”
    3. Menu item 5?? “VITC TC” set to “Regen”
    4. Top control panel, “Output reference” set to “EXT”

Where do you “set to SIF for audio input” on the digibeta? Is it in the menu? IS there anyway I can contact you if I have any other questions?

    Thanks for the info,

So if I already have some effects on the clips, will they still be attached to the clip when i media manage the whole project, or do they disappear? If they are still attached to the clip does it keep the keyframes? Also, when I set up the online, should I media manage it choosing to recompress clips to uncompressed? What settings should I use for the online? Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks,

    Luis

Just a quick question regarding :

“Use the traditional (i.e., pre-digital) online workflow — offline, online, color correct, fx. Translated to today’s tech: DV cuts and transitions (i.e., offline), do the media manager/recapture thing I mentioned previously (i.e. online). Then apply color and fx.”

If I go from offline to online will I have to rerender all DV(offline) disolves and levels, and effects if they are already applied to a clip?

    Thanks.
