    Thanks Neil-
    Those were some good troubleshooting tips but nothing changed. Without the fade there’s no jump. There were no rogue motion keyframes. When I moved the fade around (location and duration) some weird things happened. The video would flash back to a moment earlier in the clip for a few frames and then return. I’ve seen that before a couple of times in FCP history and chalk it off to some reference hiccup. Anyways… the work-around I used was to export the timeline without the problem end fade and bring that self-contained mov back into FCP and then add the end fade. Success.

    Side note: My source footage was a 720p download from Youtube (h264) transcoded to Prores in MpegStreamclip. Maybe this helps explain the jumpy fade.

    Consider the 60D instead of the 7D. That way you can take advantage of Magic Lantern. I have a 60D and a Panasonic HMC-150 and I use them together all the time for industrials & events. When you’re not shooting video on your new Canon DSLR you will surely enjoy the still photo capabilities. Getting a DSLR will only enhance you.

    December 30, 2010 at 12:43 am in reply to: Trouble with uncompressed video

    Yes that has been my workflow in the past which works great.
    However I’ve done A/B comparisons between the uncompressed process and the more straight forward export current settings method and there’s a substantial visual difference. My eyes do not lie. I recommend trying it out.
    As for my initial issue with an uncompressed .mov export riddled with anomalies I found that I wasn’t rendering before exporting. After a complete render my problems disappeared.

    Hey Noah-
    Sounds like you may have one of those generic Panasonic chargers. Would you mind posting the make/model#? I just went to my local Best Buy and their version doesn’t accommodate CGA style DVX batteries.
    Thanks!

    Wow. That’s harsh. I certainly won’t be calling you up to fix my car!

    Here’s what I wrote:
    “5 minute ProRes project, exporting to FLV through QT conversion”

    ProRes = HDV
    FLV = Flash = web

    So there it was… original source & target, right?

    Thanks. I tried that and it didn’t help. I just finished a complete OS erase & reinstall. Now Compressor works. Serious loss of productivity.
    Maybe the issue, if it returns, will be remedied once I update to FCP 6.0.5 et al. I’m still at 6.0.4 as the rest of my company’s editors/computers haven’t made the update yet.
    Thanks again.

    I’m sure that it’s my G5. I’ve taken the “pulsing” project dvd and played it on other players and sen the same thing.
