I was having difficulty with this as well, I searched the internet and found out that I had to duplicate the comp in the project bin and not in the layer; doing so still resulted in the same problem, till i realized that I had other precomps inside this duplicated comp.

So, I duplicated those comps and well, and replaced them inside the new duplicated comp, and it worked! Would be nice if there were a way to duplicate the main comp container and have it automatically create duplicates of any precomps that resides inside it.

  • Scratch that, its back.

I did a few adjustments in CD4 and tried to preview in AE. Same error.

  • I ran into this problem last night, while trying to preview my first C4D file in after effects. I tried various internet fixes but none worked. This morning I remembered during install, certain CC apps would stall due to something called Adobe Crash Daemon, and the fix was to quit Adobe Crash Daemon in the mac activity monitor; the install would then continue to completion.

So I tried it for this problem, and it worked! Not sure if this is at all related, or if purging and closing the app again was the real trick, but something changed and I no longer get the error message.

    Hope this helps.

Maxon replied and simply said to try again, they said they’re servers must of been down. So I guess I’ll try again, and again till it works.

I don’t know much about 3D, but this plugin has been pretty user friendly. I am following some Lynda.com robot tutorial and learning quite a bit. I also like how the file easily updates from one app to the other seamlessly. As for problems between the two, I guess I’ll figure that out as I learn more, hopefully it all works out.

    Thanks for the replies.
