April 13, 2017 at 5:32 am in reply to: rendered video different from preview – (sapphire fx)I don’t have that FX, but noticed long before, that certain effects can look different on preview than on rendered video.
This is because Vegas does different calculations based on preview / render quality settings.
For such an effect, I set preview to best/full quality before finetune. So it looks the same as when rendered (render is also set to best)…Best regards

April 13, 2017 at 5:25 am in reply to: Getting Interlace looking edges when rendring – screen shot attachedHi Don and Lisa ☺
No problem.Vegas sometimes does not detect correctly weether a file is interlaced or not. I think this is the reason it has the option to set it manually. If you need progressive output, but have interlaced footage, deinterlacing has to be done.
Vegas does not deinterlace a footage it thinks it is progressive. So tell Vegas that it is interlaced, set media proerties as you mentioned you did. If you render a progressive project to progressive output format, the interlaced media will get deinterlaced with the method set in the project properties (blend/interpolate/adaptive (Vegas14)).
Note, that there are different render and preview, render qualities. In draft, preview, Vegas omits deinterlacing.
Good and best includes the deinterlacing, if it is needed. So to really get your footage deinterlaced you need:
-footage marked as interlaced (if movement is jittery/jerky, the field order is reversed)
-render to a progressive format (render quality set to good or best)
-a deinterlace method set in project properties. If it is set to “none”, then the deinterlace will be done with the “none” method…The similar applies to preview, so if you preview your timeline, and preview quality is set to draft/preview, Vegas will not deinterlace the preview. Set preview quality at least to “good” (preferably good-full), so in your preview the deinterlacing will be present.
I hope I could help 😉Best regards

you could try Vegasaur’s text generator. It works awesome for counter-like things 😉

Hi,
The red square appeared to me when the codec the source requires was not installed.
In my case it was a system reinstall a long time ago, and forgot to add Lagarith, whcih I use anyway for screen-capture-like footages, presentations, etc. Installing the codec (and reopen Vegas of course) made the red blocks disappear.
Maybe the codec for your footage is missing?Best regards

April 12, 2017 at 6:11 am in reply to: Getting Interlace looking edges when rendring – screen shot attachedHi Don,
Is it possible by any chance, that your source footage is really interlaced, and wrongly detected by Vegas as progressive?
The opposite happens to me every time I use a secondary cam Canon XA10 set to 25P.
Vegas always interprets the file as interlaced, however it is progressive. I have to flag it manually as progressive.
You may want to flag your source as interlaced.Best regards

April 5, 2017 at 6:51 pm in reply to: Newbie – Changing group of still images length past certain point.[Daniel Silva] “I already tried to ctrl+click and drag them but this feature seem to have a max length.”
This feature changes playback rate of the events, and it has it’s boundaries. Namely a speed of 1/4 to 4x.
Since you seem to have still pictures, you should extend all of those on the timeline (separately).
You have more options:
Ungroup them, and simply change all the lengths to a higher value, simply dragging their sides. This works, if you have say 10 pictures.
If you have say hundred, this would be a lot of manual work, so it will be more comfortable to add the stills to the timeline again, but with a longer duration. For this open preferences and on the “Editing” tab look for “New still image length”. This is the default length of a still when you add it to the timeline. Change it to a higher (say the double) value, add your images again, group them, and try the ctrl-drag method again to adjust.
This method works for free.
Also Vegasaur’s Quick properties can do the same, but without readding the images: it can change the length of any number of selected event, and then either close gaps, or “place events” side by side.
There’s one more thing you could do:
Select the time range you want to adjust, but can’t because it’s slowed down o 1/4 already: and do a render to new track. Then on the new track with the new event you can do the ctrl-drag adjust again. I would use this method only as a very last option, if everything other fails.Best regards

I found my presets in my documents folder under “OFX presets” folder.
[David Crowe] “Can I just copy project from the old computer to the new one?”
I’m quite sure you can. I keep my document folder syncronized via my Seafile server between my desktop and my notebook. Whenever I add a new preset, it appears on my notebook too… ☺Best regards

April 3, 2017 at 7:07 am in reply to: Getting weird jittering on movement in frame on rendered film.Because you need 24p (23.976 actually), I’d use project properties that matches it.
Pull-down is required to convert from 30p to 24p as far as I know, so, no need for it if your source is already 24p as well as your target (and hopefully project props too).
Then I’d make sure, there’s no time-warping in the jittery-moving parts. I mean something like playback rate set to 95% or some event velocity applied.Best regards
