I tried a new edit with the same media that I have been
using on the other project, but set the “project settings” template a different way.
On the right side of the “template window” there is a
“match media settings” box, which I clicked to match the media that I’m using with the project.

I put together a 1 1/2 minute timeline and then rendered to a wmv,
    and it came out great,

however, when I went back to work more on the project, I noticed some
glitching, that seems to slowly happen more as I progress into the
project, so I’m going to look into converting the media first to a different codec from Divx and see if that makes a difference – just not to crazy about batch converting 20 gigs of media if that’s the solution.

    Hi Steve,

The framerate was set at 29.97.

I think the problem might be the divx codec as mentioned in
    a post below.

    Thanks again for you help.

Hmmmm. I was wondering about the codec.

I guess the best bet is to batch convert the files before I ship’em to vegas.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

The clip plays perfectly fine when played separately in windows
    media player.
