ah yes normally I send everything to a sound mixer for finishing and the stereo sequences have been fine.

If you can easily copy / paste your sequence to a new multichannel sequence I’d prefer that over cutting in multichannel just to avoid hearing different L / R outputs. If I did need to deliver multichannel out of premiere instead of sending it to protools, the copy / paste method would work? Or would I still need to start my edit in a multichannel sequence.

Thank you, I’m wondering in general if it’s better practice to edit in a multichannel sequence vs a stereo one. So when a multicam sequence is created do I base my main editing sequence off those settings or should I just edit in a normal stereo one and deliver in multichannel when I need to.

Thanks guys, have often wondered if it’s better to interpret footage or slow it down in the timeline. Any difference in quality?

  • iMac / 2012 / running El Capitan.

I figured it out by removing ghost folders in “volumes.” I had two empty folders with the same name as my 2 external hard drives and once I deleted those Premiere removed the “1”

  • thanks for helping me through this Brent! I tried both single / one perchannel and neither worked. It’s ok, I think I can just use the audio channels created from my proxy files and relink the video only to 4k.

Although I’m still confused as to what my sequence settings should be…multichannel or mono? Posted a screenshot in my other post but I think I should do master track type: mono and set 1-4 all to mono.

  • Thanks Brent! If my clips are 4 channels (lavs and boom) all mono do I change my sequence settings to multichannel or mono? Here I did multichannel. When I go to audio properties after creating my sequence, the channels are “adaptive”….should I change to mono as well?

  • Thanks for useful images! I actually did a test in Resolve as well and tried to manually disconnect the proxy + reconnect to the 4k footage and still same thing happened with the audio channels not relinking back in premiere….but the proxy file audio channels are exactly thr same..4 channel mono

hm It’s a late 2012 imac / i5 / 8gb ram / 512mb vram so I can’t use gpu acceleration. Should I change my previews to proxy as well? not sure if that will help with playback.

Also if the proxy + original media need to reference each other, maybe the newest proxy feature will not totally work because I basically just want to edit with 1080 proxy files and move all my original media to another hard drive until I need to finish + relink to the 4k footage. .

    Thanks Ken!

I’m also starting on a longform doc shot on the FS7 / UHD. I created 1920×1080 proxies via ingest / media browser but it still says my clip is 4k? Attached a screenshot, but is that just referencing the original media? When I create a sequence from the clip the frame size is 4k and my playback is fairly choppy when “toggle proxy” is on…I basically have to view the clip at 1/4 the resolution. Not sure what the point of creating all the proxy media if I can’t get smooth playback? Don’t think its my computer because it’s worked for FCPX but have had other issues with fcp, so was hoping premiere would solve ALL my problems ????
