Everyone at Panasonic keeps insisting support for AVC-Intra from Apple is just around the corner. While no one is predicting native support (like the Edius 4.5 offers), they are talking about a ProRes 4.2.2 import feature that will allow you to cut what your shooting.

As for timing, I’ve heard it hinges on Apple’s ability to patch some of Leopard’s many problems. That they’ll send out a Pro Applications update only when it addresses the compatibility issues their new system software has encountered.

A speaker at the P2 workflow conference at HD expo this past week in Burbank said he’s certainly expecting the release to come before the end of the year, but he couldn’t guarantee it.

I’ve heard about beta samples of the patch having been demoed at some film festivals and at NAB, but this is not a big enough problem for apple to release this functionality separately.

Hope this news helps, though, no one would ever call this good news.

October 16, 2007 at 4:53 am in reply to: AVC Intra codec support in FCP?

I’m having a lot of trouble getting my footage to even register in FCP. We shot on an HPX 3000 in AVC-Intra 100. Now I’m wondering what the hell to do with it.

    Any ideas?

When I go to Log and Transfer the folder doesn’t show up — the system doesn’t seem to recognize the video as video. When I direct Log & Transfer to check out my routed folders, the folders turn up as empty.

The video’s there and looks great on the monitor, but I can’t bring it up in FCP.

    Help!

    Thanks,

    Adam
