If it’s gonna be 8m then you can apply a noise effect to the gradient at 72 dpi.

AI files are vector. If you import a vector file into AE, there’s a little button on the timeline that you can check. This will keep the resolution of your imported vector image regardless how big you scale it up. I forgot the name of that checkbox. Just look it up in the manual. It has a little sun-like shape/icon.

You never said you were on the Mac. And since I am on windows, it works just fine for me.

I just wanted to illustrate how many posts I’ve been reading where people NEVER post their system, probably thinking it’s so obvious that people can read my mind.

Instead, I was only reading what has been posted.

Chances are you had your DPI image setting set incorrectly.

Not sure what U2 are talking about. In AI CS4 it works just like in any other version. Select your text, select the font in the Character palette and press the up/down arrow. The selected text on the artboard will change.

That’s all there is to it.

    Simple.

    1. Create your border. Add it to your Symbols.
    2. Create the shape of your cup.
    3. Rotate the cup using the 3D Revolve effect.
    4. Map the artwork onto the 3D shape.

I don’t remember if CS has the 3D Effect. It was a LONG time ago when I used CS.

Hmmmm.. interesting. I’ve already played with the fractal noise but didn’t gave me what I’ve been looking for. However, I didn’t think of coupling that with the displacement effect. I’m going to try that, thanks!

I don’t have that book, but chances are if that button is grayed out, then you have either
    – 2 points selected that are already joined
    – you have only 1 point selected
    – there’s a stray point right under another selected point, but you can’t see it, so you have 3 points actually selected

    Try
    1. deselect everything
    2. Go Select > Object > Stray Points
    3. Hit delete

    Now try again.
