Not sure if you tried, but after you load the font, select the text in AI and select a different font from what you loaded and make sure the selected text reflects that change. Then switch to the font you loaded.
This works on the PC but not sure if it works on the Mac.

Yes, this software allows you to either ‘install’ or ‘load’ a font (or multiple fonts) on the fly.
https://www.high-logic.com/maintype.htmlWhen you choose to ‘install’ the font(s), it means that they will be permanently available in your system, even after restart.
When you choose to ‘load’ the font(s), they get immediately loaded to the system ram and will be available instantly in all your apps, even if they are currently open.
One drawback, is that you have to be on Windows. 🙂

I believe I already mentioned it. Just draw a colored rectangle as the background.

And by the way, the effects are displayed in the appearance palette.

1. Expand your layers palette.
2. After the objects’ name, on the right, you will see little circles. The object(s) that have effects applied will have a filled, greyish circle, the ones don’t have effect will have a circle.
3. Hold down Alt, click on the filled circle (which represent the effect(s) applied to the object) and drag it over to the object you want to have the same effect.

What do you mean by “selecting black background”? You cannot “select” any color for the background in AI. Instead, you have to manually create a background, like drawing a black rectangle around the artboard.

The only way you could do that is first importing ALL images, creating swatches from them, and then save the swatch library with all the swatches in it.
Once you did that, you can then just import this swatch library and all your swatches/images will be in it.
