Thanks Bill,
Well as I have an iMac I might be stuck unless I want to cough up another $6K for a Mac Pro with more graphics RAM. I’m not primarily an editor though, just a shooter, but with a camera that shoots UHD. Do you know if Premiere will be more processor friendly in UHD for me? -
Actually it turned out I just needed to take out an illegal character from the file name – %.
Should have known that from the beginning. Can’t really justify a more powerful computer just yet. What do you think is the minimum to use these days for 4K?

OK I figured this out partly. My problem was just that hadn’t selected the timeline. Once I did the controls became obvious.
However now I was able to punch in on the timeline I went to deliver page and set up the parameters for exporting (1920×1080) and then hit add to render cue and Resolve just quits. Over and over.
I’ve got a 3.5GHz iMac w 32G memory and a 4G Cuda Card. What am I doing wrong

where is the transform setting in the edit tab?
Sorry to be so dumb.

Warren,
I just got answer on the blackmagic forum that my 1GB VRAM was way underpowered for UHD and not even good for HD . What’s your experience been on your 15″ in Resolve? any UHD?

I also have a 27″ Apple monitor running through a Belkin T-bolt express dock , so screen size isn’t an issue. I was just wondering if I should expect that this will work OK and what issues am I likely to come up against .
Are there any settings like “RT” in the old FCP 7 that facilitate real time playback in Resolve.

Well I tried creating a new timeline and now it works fine. Mystery to me

I think I was that DP! I think i did have to change my shorts afterward. The BM demo guy ( an editor) told me he thought it was the most like FCP 7 of any of the new breed of NLE’s – What the FCPX ( or should i say FCP 8) should have been. He was either a helluva BS artist for someone just hired to demo at the show, or he was telling the truth when he said it floored all the guys they hired to demo . Another guy showed me how easy it was to import an FCP 7 project and start going right away.
I’m a DP who does some cutting though not a real editor so time will tell if it delivers or not, but it sure looked great. It felt like 7 to me but I don’t know anything about X. Tried to learn X but just got drustrated at the get go and went back home to 7.
Also they said it was very easy on the processing hardware and you could function fine on a Macbook Pro. Multicam will be a future upgrade. Most exciting thing at the show for me and completely unexpected. I hope it delivers on its promise. he also showed me some very impressive and impressively fast noise reduction.
Oh yeah and its Free for HD!Lenny

I just had to convert a walk n talk sequence for a documentary that was shot on 2 XDCAM cameras with one at 23.98 (correct) and one accidentally at 29.97. This method using Twixtor and AE worked phenomenally well and my client was extremely pleased. I had also tried a method using Compressor that I found on Philip Bloom’s site, but this was far better. Well worth the price of Twixtor.
