I was under the impression that my Macbook Pro 9,1 which i believe is the most loaded and last pre-Retina version was approved for running Resolve 11. But when I look at the configuration guidelines it says it must be a Retina model.
Mine is has a 2.7Ghz icore7 processor with 4 cores and 16G of RAM. It has 8MB L3 cache and dual graphics cards – the NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M and Intel HD Graphics 4000. Will this work with Resolve 11. Any limitations?

I certainly can open resolve and have done minor color correction with it but haven’t done anything stressful yet.

One thing I notice is stuttering while playing XAVC-I 1920×1080 material. Seems like ProRes is OK though.

Are there settings to facilitate real time playback as there are in FCP 7.

I think it has to do with screen size– real estate. My non retina 15″ won’t allow me access to the buttons at the bottom of the interface to select color room, edit, etc. If I plug in my 27″ thunderbolt monitor it all works fine.

I also have a 27″ Apple monitor running through a Belkin T-bolt express dock , so screen size isn’t an issue. I was just wondering if I should expect that this will work OK and what issues am I likely to come up against .

Are there any settings like “RT” in the old FCP 7 that facilitate real time playback in Resolve.

    Warren,

I just got answer on the blackmagic forum that my 1GB VRAM was way underpowered for UHD and not even good for HD . What’s your experience been on your 15″ in Resolve? any UHD?

    Leonard,

I haven’t done UHD but HD works perfectly fine. I think I have more than 1 gig of gram in my Macbook Pro, but I have to double check.

No. WYSIWYG for playback speed is determined by your system build.

There is a cache hierarchy for complex corrections or add-on FX filters, but you need to play the clip through once for it to build. Search for “smart” cache.
