    Hi Bryan,
I’m running a 2008 mac pro with a 5770 as the GUI and gtx 470 as the GPU. I got the 470 from the macvidcards guy on ebay. I jumped the power supply off the DVD player to the second 6pin power connector on the 470. Ive read that you could also split the power from the 6 pin connector on the motherboard too.

There are a couple discussions in the forum about that.

Ive used this setup for the past 11 months with no issues.

Ive ran into this where it works fine for one session and then bugs out. Now I have it running 100%. Here are some things that worked for me:

First, the thing needs to get an ip address. Make sure you’re in the ethernet 1 port and you’re getting an address. Check your network settings. If not, maybe set up a manual ip for the mc color. or maybe a cable got bumped.

HAve the latest Eucontrol version? 2.62 is what I have.

Try Disabling your mac firewall and disable or add rules to little snitch if you have it.

In System Preferences did you add resolve to the Eucon preference pane since your reinstall of Davinci and Eucontrol?

    Hope this helps,

Mac firewall was the culprit for me.

Getting this going at first on my Mac was a bit of a headache (I had no problems setting it up with Windows 7) Seems Mac’s builtin firewall doesn’t play well with eucontrol on my machine at least. Once I disabled it, it was smooth sailing. Check your network settings to see if it’s getting an IP address and you’re connected to ethernet port 1.

On my machine, Eucontrol also doesn’t work well after the computer sleeps. In system preferences, in the Eucon preference pane I disabled the automatic startup of eucontrol. so now it works consistently if I start the panel up first, wait a few seconds and then start Eucontrol. Start Resolve only when the eucontrol icon turns black.

Ethernet setup kind of sucks but once it’s good you’ll find it’s a great panel.

The PRAM zap did not solve the Snow Leopard issue. The loud fan is the HD/Expansion fan, it’s at 1800 – 1900 RPMS
    other fan speeds are:

    Power Supply: 600
    CPU: 500
    Exhaust: 1050

This is with no programs running.

Got this from the Macvidcards guy:

“First step is to figure out which fan is making the noise.

    Download
iStat and it will allow you to rad speeds of the System Fans.

    It may
show you the 5770 fan , I don’t know. I doubt that it will show you 470
    fan.

You can run the Mac Pro with the side off and if the loud fan
wasn’t a system fan, it will be one of the GPUs.

    Fortunately, you can
simply stop them with your finger for a second to see which one is making
    the noise.

Unfortunately, the 5770 is a Dual slot card and requires more
power. Also, having it side by side with 470 is likely obscuring the input
side of 5770 fan, or pulling air the wrong way through 470.

    You may want
to consider getting an Apple OEM GT120. It could run the 27″ Apple display
and it does not need any external power. It’s shorter length and single
slot size would free up a lot of space and airflow in the Mac Pro and it
and 470 would not be interfering in each others airflow.”
