From my perspective it was worth the low price to get the crossgrade (I can’t remember how much, but under $100). I did think the disc exchange was a bit odd. I had no plans to purchase an Intel Machine but didn’t want to fall behind. When the crossgrade arrived it sat in the box until I had a break between projects. I know this doesn’t help you now, but the next time consider copying your discs (to media or as images on a hard drive) and get the upgrade. I hope your situation will be resolved to your satisfaction.

You can save as deinterlaced in Quicktime Pro using Show Movie Properties (CMD+J). There are several other functions such as resize or add mask. If you are exporting so your client can import to edit or encode, you should not alter the movie. If you exported from FCP using current settings and did not choose re compress all frames then you have the same quality as your project. Having said that, I have a client that has requested deinterlaced movies for Flash encoding (I guess the encoder that comes with Flash doesn’t deinterlace or they don’t know how to evoke it). I save an alternate version for them that is deinterlaced.

You might also consider using the Screen Capture Utility in OS X. If you have a lot of items in the bin you would have to scroll and make consecutive captures. Not the most elegant solution, but better than Print Screen because you can select just the bin.

The power button location is inconvenient. An inexpensive solution might be a rack mounted power switch such as this one from Markertek.

Not only will it be fake, but how can you know if you add the right amount of setup without a hardware waveform monitor. The scope in FCP does not show 7.5 IRE.
