Having exactly the same problem since I updated my MBP to 10.5.x, except that when I try to delete the content folder I’m asked for my password then it doesn’t move anyway. In looking at “No Name”‘s info, I see that I’m only authorized to read the card.
In last night’s case, I was single-cam shooting a long meeting and needed to dump and reuse cards as they would fill up. I ended up pulling out my old Titanium PB since I couldn’t stop rolling to format cards.
Additionally, I noticed that in using HDLog to transfer the P2 media, another folder level called “No Name” is created in the process which contains the content and lastclip stuff. PITA since now you’ve got to move the stuff OUT of that folder and up a level for FCP to recognize the clips in the Log and Transfer window.

Did you download the “NDD” version or the other one? I got the other one, which might be my problem.
Thanks!

Same problem here. Just did a clean install of Leopard and FCS2, ran updates and started editing, and I’ve got the same issue. The options were available with the same hardware configuration under OS 1.4.X and my previous Kona LHe driver.

Of course, you can actually sync the cameras via firewire– a very informative article on this is at https://www.dvxuser.com/articles/sync/ but keep in mind that this DOESN’T work if you’re recording in 24pN mode- just switch your cameras to all be recording 24p, do the sync, then switch them back to record 24pN.

February 8, 2008 at 6:50 pm in reply to: News: Apple drops out of NAB 2008 Expo booth line-upActually, NAB was exactly where I decided to make the transition from Avid to FCP with their version 4 release. I wanted to get some hands on experience, talk with 3rd party Apple partners and generally get a feel for all of the changes I’d need to make in one place, and NAB was that place.
Of course, that was the only time in the past decade that I’ve actually shown up and NAB with checkbook in hand actually expecting to be able to buy something that day.

[Simon Carlson-Thies] “When you did the archive install what did you move back from your previous system folder?.”
The archive install didn’t get that far– it errored out early in the process.
As to the widget issue, I haven’t added any widgets other than those that installed with the OS.

OK, another weird thing happening that may be related– each time I fire up a widget, a program called “Dashboard Client” upens up in the dock. Each new widget opens another “Dashboard Client” app, and they can’t be quit or removed from the dock unless the widget is closed.
Like I said— weird…

[Bob Glover] “3. Despite asking since the XL1, the mangement of audio is still a problem. It is still not possible to feed the on camera mic to just once of the inputs and feed a signal from one of the rear inputs AT THE SAME TIME. This is a STANDARD professional workflow.”
Just got off the phone with Canon on another issue (See post about zoom/rack focus in this forum) and mentioned the audio issue to my tech support guy. After futzing around for about an hour, we figured out that if, and only if, you are shooting in HDV mode and don’t mind recording 4 channels of audio (menu/audio setup/audio mode), you can set your Audio 1 switch (why it’s at the bottom, where you’d expect to find “Audio 2” nobody can explain!) to “front mic”, then set Audio 2 to “rear”, and suddenly your L/R XLR inputs are feeding audio channels 3/4. To monitor the levels of 3/4 requires you to push the “audio monitor” button under your power dial.
I suspect that if you had a hot-shoe stereo XLR widget, you could bring in four mics simultaneously to four independent audio channels. If they make such and XLR pack, I’d like some info on it…

January 10, 2006 at 11:45 pm in reply to: Advice please- We are getting HD-ready..What is your fave gear?Found this thread on a search and it brought me to a question I need to clarify. I’m currently working on a project that has to deliver in DVCPro HD, but most of the footage is coming from archival SD sources. I’ve considered editing in Pro 50, outputting that via SD-SDI, then dubbing to an HD Deck and recapturing in HD. You mentioned in this post about the Kona 2’s upconverting capabilities. Can you clue me in to how the card does it, the format requirements to get a good uprez, etc.?
Thanks in advance!
