HVX200 Multi Cam TimeCode sync
Posted by Beau Brotherton on January 24, 2008 at 10:08 pmHello and thank you to all for my last post and your responses. This job seems like it is going to take much more work than I thought.
As being the P2 wrangler on this 2-cam HVX shoot, I have been asked how to best sync time code on the two cameras. Is there any way of doing this?
Can’t wait to hear your responses.
Thanks

January 24, 2008 at 10:59 pmRennie,
Thanks for your help, I am currently trying to do these steps with the remote with 1 camera (I don’t have access to the second until Sunday) but I am not getting any response of the camera from the remote.
When I press the menu, stop, or any button on the remote, all that the camera does is Blink REMOTE in red at the top left corner of the LCD screen.
Any thoughts? Thanks again for your help.

January 24, 2008 at 11:45 pmThe remote needs to be set for vcr1 or vcr2 so you can use one remote to control 2 cameras. Do you have a manual there? If not just use the buttons on the top of the camera.

Thanks again for your help. I figured it out! I just needed to do like you said. I had never set up my camera to see the remote in the Other Functions menu.
Thanks again,

Depending on your location/situation, we have used a strobe as well. That way you don’t have to stop the whole shoot to get a sync marker. It won’t work for every situation, though.

February 25, 2008 at 5:50 pmOf course, you can actually sync the cameras via firewire– a very informative article on this is at https://www.dvxuser.com/articles/sync/ but keep in mind that this DOESN’T work if you’re recording in 24pN mode- just switch your cameras to all be recording 24p, do the sync, then switch them back to record 24pN.
