Thanks for the response, Daniel. It makes sense that if he can’t display 1920×1080 on his laptop (if the resolution of the laptop is too low), then he can’t send the video to the switcher at the true aspect ratio.

Have you ever heard of a 16:9 1920×1080 “cinema” aspect ratio? I don’t like to suggest (politely of course) that people are BSing me unless I’m sure.

October 20, 2008 at 11:56 pm in reply to: Memory Issues

Thanks for your response, Mark. I think something more is going on… on Friday afternoon I rendered out a 13-minute timeline, and it took approximately 1 hour to render. Later that day the system got caught in a “running low on memory” loop and I had to force quit the application. I shut down the computer and let it sit, and when I booted back up and started Avid, all the render files were gone. I set it to render again, and it took 5 hours to render the same 13-minute timeline. (With the client pacing the hallways like an expectant father!)

Today it is more responsive than Friday night, but there’s about a 2-second delay between when I click on the timeline and when the cursor moves to that position. I don’t know what else to do, short of requesting that the producer get an engineer in to look over the system. If you have any other suggestions, I’d love to hear them. Thanks!

Did you find a solution to this problem? I just started having the same problem this week, out of the blue. Also, when I try exporting using the 320×240 WMV preset, the audio gets distorted, and it sounds like The Chipmunks. Everything worked fine until this week.
