    I think you are right.
What’s the easiest way to reinstall the Quicktime 7.3?

I have 9gb ram, 300gb of free space.

I already tried the “Secret” Pref, and set it to purge every 100.
    maybe every 5 would help.

    I’m on a Macpro 3GHz quad core.

The only difference I can see -from working to suddenly not working- is upgrading my quicktime to 7.4 yesterday after the Macworld keynote yesterday.

does anyone know what the error actully means?

    Info:
It fails 10 min in on ALL renders, doesn’t matter if they are from completely different projects with unrelated assets.
It fails on different frames of the same comp. depending how far it got before the 10 min hits.
I’ve even started the render at different places in the timeline etc. same result at 10 min.

    Thanks,

    That works.

Putting a camera in the scene and making the lights a child.

What you described with the default lighting is what I want with real lights.

If I DON’T put a light in the scene (the default lighting takes over), the object VR works correctly because that light DOES stay with the camera, the way that it should. (again, it’s like you are holding up an object and examining it in the light)

If you put a light object into the scene (or multiple, which is preferable anyway) they all get moved with the VR, which, like I posted earlier, isn’t right.

Try it, you will see. (unless I’m missing something!?)

Adjusting the layers depth is taking care of it, I’m putting all the layers a pixel or 2 off (it seems in this case the higher (y value) ones need to be behind (z depth) the lower ones. It’s trying to cast a shadow from above.
Puting adjustment layeres between makes it so the shadows don’t render at all. I’d have to play with that some more to see if that would work.

funny that all the other layers don’t do that.

    Thanks,
Iv’e been around AE a long time but sometimes with frustrating things like this…
    I feel like the newbie.

–are there any other effects? it sort of looks like what broadcast safe can do to colors as –the change to illegal values.

    No other effects.

–also, are you seeing this in preview or final render? and is opengl off? it could be a
    –codec thing, or opengl issue.

it does it in preview and final render.

It’s there only when I have the light “cast shadows”.
If I turn the “Casts Shadows” off in the light source then it doesn’t do it.
