I had the same results. FCP is stalling/bogging on me so I go to my usual place to trash the prefs… and they simply weren’t there. Running FCP 7.0.3 on 10.7.5

SOLUTION: Open Terminal and type in chflag nohidden ~/Library
Bingo, now navigate to users/your folder/library/preferences and there they are
