  • Where are the FCP preferences in OSX 10.5.2?

Posted by Jennifer Jones on July 26, 2008 at 5:24 pm

Hi everyone, I just looked to see if I could find the answer to this in a previous thread (also on the apple support page) and I can’t seem to find anything. I just upgraded to OSX 10.5.2, and am running FCP 5.1.4, and I am having trouble finding where the Final Cut Pro preferences are stored (previously in the Prefrences folder, which is now called “PreferencePanes” in OSX 10.5.2, and doesn’t have the usual “Final Cut Pro User Data” folder in there). I’m sure there’s an easy answer as to how I trash the preferences, but I just can’t find the folder!

Does anyone know where the FCP prefs are in 10.5.2? Thanks in advance for your help with this!

[Jennifer Jones] ” (previously in the Prefrences folder, which is now called “PreferencePanes” in OSX 10.5.2,”

Those are two different folders. The Preference Folder is still there and the preferences are still in the exact same place. Final Cut Pro User Data folder.

Hi Walter, thanks for your reply.

I see the Preferences folder, but there’s no FCP User Data folder in there. I’m not sure why? (maybe because I have the AJA IO extensions, as well?) Hmm, well I just trashed the com.apple.fcp.plist file, will see if this works…

Are you in the correct Preferences folder?

    User > Library > Preferences

NOT MacHD > Library > Preferences

Yes, that’s where I am. No User Data Folder. Maybe the entire folder was accidentally trashed?? I’m not sure..

Run the application and then close it. It will build the preferences files.

    All the best,

I have the same results. FCP is stalling/bogging on me so I go to my usual place to trash the prefs… and they simply aren’t there. Running FCP 7.0.3 on 10.7.5

SOLUTION: Open Terminal and type in chflag nohidden ~/Library
Bingo, now navigate to users/your folder/library/preferences and there they are
