Thanks, everyone, I just upgraded to Vegas Pro 11 and DVD Architect 5.2, and this is the first DVD I tried creating with the new program. I don’t recall having to do anything in the 5.0. I think Kelly has the answer. Thanks again.

Interesting. I opened a new session of Vegas and copied and pasted the video clip, inserted an oval (which worked), then copied and pasted that clip back into my original timeline. It went back to circle.

Thanks, Rob, but that’s not it. There are no keyframes. I can get any other shape but the side oval.

I have tried burning a second Blu-Ray with the same brand (Memorex) and got the same result. I’m also wondering if it’s not the discs. Thanks for the advice, I’ll give it another try with another brand.
