Also I forgot to mention that the quality loss happens when I export the movie to quicktime (with current settings) and strangely it also gets slightly squeezed…

Hello,
My sequence settings are: fr.size 720×576, 25fps, DV-Pal, Pix aspect PAL-CCIR-601, field dominance lower.
I have a photo-jpeg on one track and a film on top of it on a 2nd track. The film has the same settings as the sequence and the photo-jpg is fr.size 919×576, 25fps, pixel aspect square, field none.

Hello,

I am also having problems with my still images loosing quality and I don’t have the latest FCP. I have version 5.1.4. What is the best format to use to get best quality stills in the movie? That would be great if someone could help me with that.

Actually my film does not have any text or graphic. It is just video. I have just tried the Best 90 min DVD preset. But I am still loosing quality: lack of sharpness, lower contrast and saturation. I can see that my film is only taking up 880MB on the DVD. Is there anyway I can compress it less so that it retains more quality?

Thanks for your help David. I have just fixed my problem with compressor and it’s working now. So what compressor settings should I select to get the best DVD quality knowing that the DVD will always play in the same player (as it will be part of an art piece) and the film is only 20 minutes, video only (no audio). The sequence setting in FCP is currently NTSC DV 3:2, but the DVD will be played on a 4:3 LCD TV…

Thanks a lot for the response. I have been avoiding compressor and DVD Studio Pro only because I am self-taught in Final Cut Pro, and I had not realized that it was going to give me a better quality than TOAST, which I had used before. Now that I got your advice I’ll try to work it out with the manual and forum. I really appreciate your help!
