I’ve already removed the effects and replaced them all (maybe missed 1?) with the same clips from the initial export done before the expiry occurred. But yes, I do have a quicktime full res version exported that plays smoothly.

So then I’ll import my full res version into compressor and use the setting mpeg 2 best for 90 minutes? Is that really the best option? My project is only about 25.

    Thanks! 🙂

lol! okay since you asked ill try to explain, sorry its been a confusing day!

I use compressor a bunch so thats not the reason. Compressor was initially my first choice to use. Basically here’s a more thorough explanation:

I used a trial a while ago of effects for FCP (stupid idea). The project was put aside for a bit and then the effects expired. You can still view the clips in FCP but if you try to export it doesn’t work. So I have been one by one going through every clip and searching for the ones that had the smooth cam effect. I had a high res export of the project from when it hadn’t expired so I replaced clips that way. I literally clicked on every clip and I think I got all of those stupid effects gone but when I try to export compressor still searches for those missing effects and results in error. When I export through FCP it’s no problem. So that explains it I hope?

Thanks for responding. The problem with compressor is a bit more complicated its actually more with compressor handling the fact that the effects are still somehow integrated… i’m not worrying about this one for now!

I don’t use dvdsp I use encore but I am not very familiar with it. Can I do it all in FCP?

Hi, I was wondering, I need to export from FCP an apple pro res 422 sequence shot on canon60D to standard DVD. I can’t use compressor because of some glitch from some trial effects I used so I have to do it through FCP. Which settings would I use for the best results?

oh well I was hoping there was a shortcut!

I was wondering……. in compressor when you choose your settings is best quality 150 minutes a lot worse then using best quality 90 minutes. I want to hopefully break the 3hrs into 2 parts instead of 3 parts but if quality will suffer I can’t do that.

ok thanks. if the project was for myself I would watch it on television and check the different compressions etc…… but since its for work I have no choice but to make it the highest quality so I’ve exported in part 1 and part 2 (23hrs to go)! Confusing stuff though!

so if I want the quality to the be the best possible without using dual layer that basically means I need to split it?

  • Hi, I didn’t use mpegstreamclip I used compressor. The footage was HD apple pro res, I down converted to MPEG2. But I’m not worried about the footage just the titles which look pixelated.

  • Hey I found this thread because I typed into google a similar problem. I read the thread but I’m still confused….

What was the solution for titles looking low quality when compressed from HD to MPEG2? My titles are even more simple, it’s simply done in final cut and it’s just text. The footage looks okay but the text looks horrible in MPEG is there a way around this?

yes. and a lot of colour correction filters as well.

I’m so scared to find a glitch in any of these exports when they’re done.. imagine starting again!
