Thanks to both who responded! That explains it!

I would like to have confirmation that I am in fact working with prores 422 footage, both in the library and the timeline. There must be a way to easily confirm this. How can I do this most easily?

THX again! I could have burned up HOURS trying to figure this out!

  • Why is there not a Protools forum at the COW?

I’ve been doing lynda.com training on PT and the tools and flexibity are impressive.
I’m in TV and film so having access to other editors is significant.

So where do PT users collaborate?

  • Thanks everyone. RX4 been helping a great deal.
I’m mostly using FCPX and trying to decide on the best DAW to use with it and RX.
One need is to lower sound coming from other lavs bleeding into the dialogue of adjacent actors. Each actor is mic’ plus boom.

Often I get footage that is stereo with two actors one panned left and one right. Awkward with audition.

    Thanks guys!

  • Thanks Ty!

BTW Do all the RX4 / RX5 tools become available in Pro tools as a plugin, or do you also need to open the standalone version at times for certain tasks?

    It was DVDA 4.5
You said it is no longer supported? Is it not included in the newest release of Vegas?

I’m pretty. Sure I saw it for sale as a stand alone product on songs site.

DVD authoring is still very important to a lot of businesses.

I know I am doing it properly as I’ve done it fine with another audition project and am following Larry Joran training.

I see the wave files. I hear the mix. I can see the mixer LEDs, but when I go file,,expert multitrack session the file has no wave file or sound!

    Help!

  • Yes, but this only helps if you are not already in the timeline.

I have an almost competed timeline with too much work to go back

  • Thank you!
Here is what I need to do.
I have to fix sound on an entire video in premiere who used MP4 compressed files . There are a lot of edits so I tried this.
I selected a clip in the timeline and used find in project. I then used extract to mono files and had it create two mono left and right files.
Then I dragged them to the timeline into two new tracks and lined them up.
The problem is that the lengths did not match the clip I had originally selected.

I think this is because of the MP4 format . Do you agree?
What could have been relatively easy became awful.

The only other way I can think of is to go into premiere and duplicate the track and pan one left and the other right and the level each separately.

There are some big difference in loudness between the two people in an outdoor dialogue.

I’m wondering if I use a compressor to limit the peaks?
