I think the issue may have been the recent I-tunes update that caused a Quicktime problem with Vegas playing back MOV files. I could have asked my client to un-install the new Quicktime 7.6.7 and load an older version to fix the problem (as I’ve seen done in other posts)
but I decided that it was up to me to create a workaround. You know how it is . . . it’s never the client’s fault. (wink)

Thanks for the links and instructions. I loaded the codecs and the Streamclip program. It does seem to work: it creates “quick import” Media 100 files and the image quality is excellent. However the field jitter is still there. It’s evident on dissolves, pans, zooms and when someone runs thru the frame. In one test, it even made the motion jitter worse.
I appreciate your help, but I guess I will keep looking for that “magic bullet”.
