Almost one year later, and i finally solved the problem…
I reinstalled everything, followed all the tips you guys gave me and nothing worked.
For the last year, we only worked with DV tapes, so we didn’t need the XDCAM Transfer to work.

Now, we got another mac (with the same specs) fixed (this whole year this other mac wasn’t working – things here are slowww!) and installed FCP and XDCAM Transfer. There, things worked fine, no missing codecs, so I did the simplest thing I could: copied the QuickTime Components (SystemDrive/Library/QuickTime) from the “new” Mac to the old one, that had the missing codecs. Et voilà!

Thanks everyone for the tips, though!

Yeah, receipts are just receipts, of course, I don’t know what I was thinking 😉

So, I tried to download Pro Applications Update 2008-01, which contains Final Cut Pro 6.0.3 update and is available here: https://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/application_updates/proapplicationsupdate200801.html.
Although we have a legal copy of final Cut Pro, I tried registering it on Apple website to be able to download the update, but it says that our SN is not valid! So, I’m trapped. Is there anywhere alse I can download Pro Applications Update 2008-01?

    Thanks!

    Rafael and Andrew,
    thank you!
I’ll try to follow Andrew’s steps.
Rafael, I can’t install Leopard because we don’t have the installation dvd.
Is there any legal way of downloading the installer for free?

But I don’t think that’s the problem. Leopard was never installed on this mac, only Tiger, and XDCAM media used to work well.
I’m suspecting it’s because of Final Cut.
When I open XDCAM transfer, it tells me 2 codecs are missing and that the “support for these codecs was introduced in Final Cut Pro 6.0.3” (for XDCAM HD422 Codecs) and “… Final Cut Pro 6.0.2” (for XDCAM EX (VBR) Codecs).
After I installed Final Cut Studio, I ran the automatic updates and Final Cut went from version 6 to 6.0.5 and then to 6.0.6.
Since the codec I need is XDCAM HD422, which was introduced in Final Cut Pro 6.0.3 according to XDCAM transfer, I thought that maybe I should reinstall Final Cut 6 and then update it litte by little, first Final Cut Pro 6.0.1, then Final Cut Pro 6.0.2, etc etc. so that it will install these codecs properly.

BUT I don’t have the receipts for these versions in this mac, so I figured I could copy them from my personal mac. Does this make sense to you guys?

    Thanks a lot.

P.S.: just to let you know that I copied the contents from my computer’s Quicktime Library to this one and it didn’t work…

    Hi Cris,
    thanks for your answer.
Yes, I read somewhere that the XDCAM EX Clip Browser only works for Intel-based macs.
But someone who worked on this mac before me says these XDCAM clips used to work fine, and that he only used XDCAM Transfer because XDCAM EX Clip Browser would never open. So, I think that’s not the issue…

    Any other ideas?
    Thanks a lot!

    Hi,
i’m having the same problem and don’t seem to find a solution.
The last post on this thread was in March, since then has anyone managed to make the reconnect work?

I think maybe the issue is really with QuickTime. I had a previous version of QT and updated to 7.5, then the problem started. I’ve already tried to downgrade QT, but it didn’t work. Any suggestions?

    Thanks a lot.
