Another consideration.
Premiere has always struggled with large project files. Typically I would keep projects under 50mb in size. I was hoping cs3 would change this but doesn’t seem to.
Right now an associate of mine had premiere crashing etc with a project size of 100mb. we broke it up into smaller bites and it runs fine now.

Thanks Chris
I have hooked it up to an old field mixer we had lying around but the sound is distorted. I don’t know if it’s the mixer or not. If I can’t fix I will try your suggestion.
Any clues?

Tinting Backgrounds, flourishes etc are quick ways to change a look. The Anvel,Video Co-Pilot and others have a good range that are well priced and they (well, some) come as projects so you can take parts of the animation only.
I agree with the others, 2-3 days from what you say.

I trust this is not too late for you.
I have had all the issues you are talking about a couple of years ago, so it was using 1.5.
The problem I found was that it is premiere. The general rule is to keep your project to below 50mb. If you have 2 gig ram then 1.2 will certainly max it out. Colour correction increases file size.
The solution that worked for me was to break it right down in to a number of smaller projects export those as avi’s then have a master project which has the avi’s only. Each one should be about 10 min max in length.
In the archives would be a thread regarding this whole issue. I haven’t read or heared that Adobe have solved this issue as yet.

Firefox has a plugin called ‘YouPlayer’. You drag the video link on to it and then you can right click and save as a movie.
I’ve used it a couple of times and works well.

Another option is to delete your preview files then render again. It may take a while but I have had this problem before and it was solved by doing this.

the idea is to record the entire show to tape then a master is edited on the linear edit system giving a final product.
there is no post on the final product before it broadcasts.

Hello Ty and thank you.
Ok, managed to sort out most of the issues. A tech guy we had in put a wrong plug in to the wrong socket.
On the mixer there is a seperate insert for each mic input so we have an insert going to the compressor for each mic. We have 2 compressors which can handle 2 mics each ie 4 mics altogether. So the signal goes into the mixer then from the mixer to the compressor, back to the mixer where it is EQ’d and levels etc then out to a tape deck. This happens for all 4 mics.
I can’t see any main inserts on the back of the mixer, can it be called something else? If it is do I need to redo the workflow?
How do I tell if it is dual mono or stereo?
Point noted re the pumping.
The gear was installed by a sound guy who has since left, so we are a bit ignorant regarding sound at present.
Many thanks for your help.
cheers
