Don’t think the fair thing is a legit argument – FCPX was a 100% new NLE. Premiere is NOT – it’s version 6 and been around for years. I appreciate the update look and it’s getting better each rev. but it really should be even better and could have been had Adobe been listening to “pro” users years ago like they are now.

Concur – just not feeling it at all. I appreciate the improvements and that Adobe is finally listening to high-end users but seems like it still has a way to go. A couple of long time FCP experts at NAB that were on the beta team compared it to FCP 5 as far as features, stability etc…

I’d love it if we start seeing Thunderbolt ports and PCIe cards for PC’s – it’s a great technology.
The thing I like about the Dell over the HP etc is the actual design of the T7600 – for the first time EVER Dell will actually have a nice looking box.

Not anti-Premiere comment here but so far I can’t see any huge advantage over FCPX. I mean if an Editor absolutely has to cut using a source/record NLE I’d have no prob letting an Editor choose the NLE they like best.
Fortunately I don’t have a feature to cut right now so I’ll continue to play with CS6 and FCPX and keep an open mind to everything that’s out there especially Smoke ….

Why are you still running Snow Leopard? Could this be an issue? I’ve never had any corruptions happen with FCPX and Lion. You can’t even get broadcast monitoring with at least 10.72 installed according to Apple…

Thanks for the response – I feel I need to spend more time with it to give a real answer. I’m sure there’s a LOT of user error happening right now. But I do feel the program is more engineer based and not Editor based – meaning it’s not a user-friendly app. Perfect example is getting playback on a second monitor – I have to plug in specific formula? This should simple just like in Premiere…

I think there’s a difference between supporting OpenCL and actually being optimized for OpenCL. Adobe has obviously spent a lot of time with nVidia optimizing their software for CUDA. It seems if you’re going to commit to CS6 then it may be best to use the best hardware available for the job. I can tell you first hand that the difference between using an approved CUDA card like the GTX 570 or not is gigantic – I was able to get full rez playback with 1080p footage with myriad of effects stacked on clips – this was on a i7 PC…
Adobe says they’ll be updating their list of supported graphics cards but who knows if/when the ATI cards in current iMacs will be on the list? I would hope it soon than later…

Yeah very underwhelmed by Speedgrade – it’s no Color or DaVinci – just bizarre how lacking it is at certain things.
But love Colorista as well and have no prob working with 3rd party plugs if necessary.
