The CION is a 100% Pro Res camera – no image sequences. For me, in the heat of a shoot, I’ll take Pro Res over frames any day. Shooting 4K 444 should be way good enough for just about anybody.

Gotcha thanks – I also had the 2012-early 2013 iMac with nVidia.
I still wonder though if the older Radeon is just too underpowered for FCPX etc…

Are you sure about the Radeon graphics? I thought the 2012 iMac’s all had nVidia? Also the 20GB of RAM is odd – always best to have all 4 sticks be exactly the same if possible for proper dual channel memory.
If it’s an nVidia card – make sure you have the latest CUDA driver – in preferences.

Yeah I’d go for the GTX 780 or higher – at least 3GB of VRAM. the 680 is old tech. You could also give the new AMD Radeon R9 series a try – less expensive than nVidia yet faster on many things and Adobe approved.

Funny I was just talking to someone yesterday about how bad the color tools in Premiere are especially the 3-way corrector. The FCP 3-way was perfect – easy, effective and it’s strange that no one has ever, in any other NLE, been able to create something similar? Even sadder that Apple chucked it when switching to FCPX.
I tend to use Colorista II for most color fixes in Premiere – it operates exactly like it does in FCP7 and gives me great results though the real-time performance via GPU could be much better. Another pretty cool color tool is Film Convert which, besides having great film looks, has a very nice 3-way corrector.

I used 7toX – the files I’m attempting to relink are the exact same files used in 7 but X says they are not. This is not the first time this has happened. FCPX could also use a “replace” file feature like every other NLE.

I have dual LG IPS 27’s I bought last year and they’re great – excellent color, run cool.

CION has a built-in IR/OLPF filter built-in – the thought was that most film-style DP’s would use traditional ND’s in front of the lens vs. built-in ENG style ND wheel. The CION design had film shooters in mind vs. video style shooting. There may be room for internal ND’s much like Alexa where there is room behind the lens for filtration.

This was an NAB I was insanely proud to be in the AJA booth as the CION camera was a true shooters design – comfy on the shoulder, enough heft (10lb lighter than URSA) to steady out your shots and true 4K, not just UHD.
