Where did you read that 5.2 supports Vegas 10? I’m a long time Cineform user and use NeoScene and Neo4K and have the latest installs on both my workstations – neither which work in Vegas 10. Yes you can read the files but you cannot create a custom render using Cineform codec – the pulldown is grayed out.

Yeah I doubt it’s your hardware. I’m running 10 on 2 Win7 64bit systems that both run 9 perfectly and it crashes CONSTANTLY! Doesn’t really matter what I do – just playing it locks up – doing a little color correction LOCK UP! It has worked fine for a couple of hours here and there but not trustworthy yet.

Hopefully Sony will get an update out soon…

Sounds like you really need an ENG style camera for your work – I don’t see the AF100 as an ENG camera but more of a cinema camera – which means manual lenses etc.

I’m sure as the camera mount gains popularity someone like Fuji could release an ENG style lens for the mount. But don’t think anyone has ever made one for anything larger than 2/3″ chips. May be cost prohibitive?

Must say the footage looks outstanding. This camera with proper lenses and a quality outboard recorder like the new AJA KI PRO MINI should be a great combo for indie filmmakers – I know I wanna give it a try.

I think any new USB CF reader will work – tons of models under 20 bucks. For speed we picked up a Calumet firewire 800 CF reader – transfers about 3 to 4 times faster than our USB reader.

We’ve used Lensrentals quite a bit – great service and price and their insurance saved us when a 100-400 L got trashed.

Interneg/pos are intermediate formats – interneg = intermediate negative. Meaning they will print your show as a 35mm negative and then you can strike prints (positives) from the interneg as needed. Interpos would still need a interneg to make prints from.

I think like Noah has stated, check with a state of the art lab here in LA – they should be able to strike prints as needed without an interneg or interpos from your digital master.

Thanks for the post – good to hear some Grinder info. Have you tried NeoScene from Cineform? I’ve had good results with it thought it’s a bit more expensive than Grinder.

Here’s the link for the ProRES white paper from Apple. Everyone should read and decide for themselves what is best for them. We use HQ because it is considered an acceptable codec for mastering here in Hollywood. We also render to 4444 out of Color to preserve all the work we just did in the 32bit float environment.
