Looks pretty cool to me but definitely not an editing machine. The USB C port supports 10Gbps so twice as fast as USB 3 so in theory a raid could be attached but I doubt that would happen when the MacBook Pro is far more powerful etc.

I’d love to be at the coffee house banging out my next screenplay on a gold one…

Yes and there’s a profile for his studio on the FCP site. Probably his next movie “Geostorm”? He wasn’t at the event but apparently its a Warners show so FCPX alive and well on the lot.

The Directors are also Guild Editors so along with Editor Jan Kovac and 1st Asst. Michael Matzdorff, all praised FCPX over all otter NLE’s they’ve used and said they figured there was a 3 to 1 less clicks ratio advantage over Avid.

They all liked it enough that they’re already using it on their next feature and Warner Bros. is totally cool with it. They also mentioned Dean Devlin is cutting his next feature on it also.

I concur Mark – I was sitting there in the theater (2 seats from you by the way) thinking this guys the next CEO of Apple – very inspiring. His company/staff was just on it al day – far better than many of the NAB seminars etc.

I just mean I expect a significant announcement at NAB – who knows how long it will take BMD to get it actually working well. In the meantime FCPX will only get better so we can’t lose.

Of course if the editing gets better in Resolve- which I suspect it will, maybe even this NAB – I could get used to doing shows fully in Resolve.

I completely agree Oliver. While I was was a Color user and kinda like Resolve, round-tripping is just a pain for me, I’d much rather stay in my NLE and color time as I cu, just like I like to sound design as I cut. This new tool combined with the built-in color told gives everything I need to get a great look for the shows I do – mostly indie feature films. Looking forward to seeing how it evolves, it can only get better and it’s already pretty great.

BTW – was that you (Oliver) I saw in the Apprentice finale?

I like it better – much larger – more like FCP Classic 3-way meets Resolve. And I love that you can stack multiple instances of color wheels, curves. luts etc

  • A lot of verbiage and as I suspected not a single “test”. Go re-read your smug, know-it-all original post. The fact is the iMac annihilated the MacPro in some of the tests and I just don’t think this should happen in any test. Apple needs to refresh the Mac Pro’s if this is really the case.

Yeah playing with it now – very much like an improved Resolve right inside FCPX yet easier and faster to use! Realtime performance is great too with no lag on playback.

I’m sold and can’t wait to see how it evolves.
