We are running AE 5.5 (another thing I should have listed in the initial post). I will look into the optimal settings for AE based on each machine. Thank you guys for your help. I will let you know how it is going and if anyone has anymore ideas I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you,

Sorry I also meant to mention that all machines are running CS5 and that all plugins/text have been matched on each machine.

Yes I do, I should have listed that in the original post.
Thanks for responding so quickly Kevin!

Unfortunately im working this one with out a Kona (or equivalent). This is pushing me toward using 24p so the pull down is added automatically. What do you think? Any issues I should look out for if im taking this route?

Hey Jeremy,
So as I understand it, 720 24N would give me 23.98fps, Ill obviously cut in 23.98 and the pulldown will be added on the print to tape?Kyle Traynor

January 29, 2009 at 6:55 pm in reply to: How do you protect an area from getting keyed-out?If you use the “Color Range” plugin along with key light you can actually select a color and tell it not to be removed. This may be more difficult than it sounds depending on the color of the cactus and the color of your screen but its worth a shot.
If all else fails just animate a rough mask around the cactus. Key your other video layer and place the animated layer on top. Their will probably be some color matching that will need to be done.
The second option is rather down and dirty but it should get the job done.
Hope that helps

Sorry for the delay but I have good news to report. I had been previewing the exports inside quicktime player and not compositing them over an image. So while they looked awful inside the QT viewer they look fine once placed inside the timeline (in this case an avid). Defiantly something I should have checked and sorry to waste your time but your advice to avoid the premulitipled was great, thank you.

Thanks Steve, that defiantly makes it better. I lost almost all the extra white pixels but I am still getting a bit a staircasing, any more ideas?
