Alright have a problem here and cant seem to find a fix. Making a very basic title graphic and trying to export the Alpha so it can be overlayed on a video track. Inside After Effects the graphic looks fine (see gray image) and when I export there are a layer of white pixels on the outsides of the words making them look terrible (see black image).

Im exporting as an animation quicktime with RGB+Alpha and everything at its highest/full settings (and yes that includes the one inside AE). I cant understand why my image is changing, im sure its an easy fix but its driving me crazy. Any help would be great, thanks Cow.

Did you try rendering with straight (not premultiplied) alpha?

Thanks Steve, that defiantly makes it better. I lost almost all the extra white pixels but I am still getting a bit a staircasing, any more ideas?

Hm. Do you have an image to post? I didn’t see one on the first post.

Sorry for the delay but I have good news to report. I had been previewing the exports inside quicktime player and not compositing them over an image. So while they looked awful inside the QT viewer they look fine once placed inside the timeline (in this case an avid). Defiantly something I should have checked and sorry to waste your time but your advice to avoid the premulitipled was great, thank you.

Yes. QT Player doesn’t read alpha channels, so you were wise to check it in AE or Avid.
